Bear on the Square Mountain Festival
(Music and Art Festival)

Music and art festival featuring old-time and blue grass music: headlining legends Norman and Nancy Blake, Carolina Chocolate Drops.  Jam sessions day and night; regional, national musicians on stage Saturday and Sunday  Juried traditional mountain art and crafts, music workshops, Sunday morning Gospel Jam, street dance, children's activities, food and more.
All outdoor events are free.

U. S. Army Mountain Ranger Open House

Camp Frank D. Merrill
Watch the Army's finest soldiers demonstrate their skills.  See helicopters, night vision devices, weapons; demonstration of patrol insertion utilizing UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters is a favorite. Also rappelling, climbing, mountain rescue, hand-to-hand combat and free-fall parachute jumping. The Annual Mountain Ranger Run is held in conjunction with the open house.

Dahlonega Mountain Flower Art Festival
May 17 – 18, 2008

April showers bring May flowers; this year's festival will present two days of Fine Art and wildflowers.  The festival celebrates local and area mountain wildflowers so abundant in North Georgia.  Artist and skilled craftspeople from the region display and sell their handmade products in the downtown area of Dahlonega.

Georgia Winecountry Festival      
June 7 – 8, 2008

Three Sisters Vineyards and Winery
Admission:  Adults 21 and older; $20.00 (includes souvenir wine glass)

Celebrate Three Sister’s Vineyards 7th annual signature wine, art and music event.  Attendees can sample wine from various Georgia wineries and blue grass, rock & roll, folk and Americana music.  Under the big tent will be culinary demonstrations, folk art -with a special appearance by John “Cornbread” Anderson – local food specialties and more.  Wagon rides by Gold City Corral.  Silent auction benefits The Southeastern Blue Grass Association (SEBA), a non-profit organization that preserves, promotes and publicizes the music and Bluegrass activities.

Dahlonega Literary Festival and Writers’ Conference
August 9 -10, 2008.  
Location: Historic Square, Dahlonega, Georgia
Steve Berry (bestselling author,  The Venetian Betrayal) will top the list of headliners.  The Dahlonega festival is noted for the “coffee shop” atmosphere of the author book readings scheduled in restaurants and galleries around the historic Square.  Readings, book sales, lectures, workshops, “Lunch with the Stars,” costumed characters for the Children section and literary themed Scavenger Hunt.
Cost, Admission to the Festival is Free; most events are free.  There is a $100 registration fee for the Writer’s Conference
