Happy Healthy Friends
By Joan Sewell

Snellville ladies enjoying their trip to Orlando, Florida.
I know that several of my friends are cutting down on their vacation travel this year. Heat and high gas prices are contributing factors I’m sure. So let me tell you about a terrific short and relatively inexpensive trip I took with a group of ladies most of whom are members of Snellville Church of Christ and H2U.
There were thirteen of us: Loretta Allen, Sharon Berrong, Barbara Bramlett, Mary Alice Gilbert and her mother-in-law, Shirley Helms, Patsy Holder, Lynda Hunter, Nellie Hunter, Caroline Livsey, Brenda White, Cheryl Wilson and me. We loaded water and home-baked munchies and small suitcases into a rented van and headed out for a four day trip to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida.
For those who may not have heard of this park, let me tell you some of the highlights. The park features re-enactments of many stories from the New Testament set in structures that resemble those in Bible times. Probably the most moving is the crucifixion, burial and resurrection. It will bring tears to your eyes.
There is an informative presentation about the Jewish tabernacle, a huge replica of Solomon’s temple, and a model of the city of Jerusalem as it was in 65 A. D. before the destruction of the temple. There is an area called the Scriptorium which contains a million dollar collection of scrolls containing part of the Bible and a copy of the Gutenberg Bible.
It was a great trip. We enjoyed seeing so many people of so many nationalities willing to spend a day singing praise to God. The park is enjoyable for all ages. There are dramas planned for small children as well as adults.
Looking at Cathy Stokes’ list of trips, I find that the Holy Land Experience is one of her destinations this September. So if this trip sounds like something you would like to do, give Cathy a call.
I enjoyed the training session on June 27. Such events keep all volunteers at the desk up to date on new happenings at the hospital. It is also a great way to get to meet new volunteers you may not have met.
I’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to Dorothy Jones, Gail Moulton, Doris Snell, and Joseph and Patricia Soukup. Get Well wishes go out to Wilma Wright, Lillie Belle Broadnax, and Burdett Dzendzel,
