Hello Gwinnett,

If you’re a Portland TrailBlazer’s fan, you obviously know about the Greg Oden situation. The 1st overall pick in this year’s draft felt a pain in his knee about a month ago. Well that pain is going to sideline him for this, 2007-2008 NBA season. I guess Kevin Durant can be Rookie of the Year, since Oden is out. Earlier this month, the USA men’s basketball team won the 2007 FIBA Americas championship. They wanted to send a strong message to the rest of the world saying that they aren’t going to be the USA team of the past for 2008. I just wish that we could get all the major NBA superstars to play for their country. Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, and Dwayne Wade are some examples of superstars who aren’t playing for the USA team. It would be great to see the biggest stars playing on one team. The closest thing to the stars playing on the same floor is seeing the All-Star game. Back in the 90’s, the biggest stars were playing for the USA team. Like Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson, David Robinson, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. They wanted to represent their country well. That’s just my opinion.
So far in the NFL, The Patriots are cheating, the Chargers are stinkin’ it up, the Falcons need Michael Vick, the Saints are not living up to expectations, and the Texans, Packers, Lions, and 49’ers are all surprise teams. So far in the first three games, the Falcons are 0-3. We recently got Quarterback Bryan Leftwitch. Hopefully he can be our answer to winning and maybe getting to Arizona for the Super Bowl. Going into week 2, the Patriots got caught video recording the other team and finding out their plays. Bill Belichick was fined quite a bit of money. Now they have to prove that they’re not cheaters and they have to prove that they did not have to cheat to win those three Super Bowls. The Chargers are not playing well right now and LT and his offensive line need to get it together. LT doesn’t have any 100 yard games so far. If he doesn’t play well, Philip Rivers probably won’t play well and that means that Antonio Gates won’t play well either. They are off to a 1-2 start. Drew Brees and the Saints are off to a bad start and it all started with an opening night loss to the defending champion Colts, 41-10. They really need some offense and their defense led by Will Smith needs to find a way to at least tackle someone. The Packer’s Brett Farve tied the NFL record for most touchdown passes. He’s tied with Dan Marino for this milestone.
In the MLB, the Red Sox, Indians, and the Angels all clinched a playoff birth and it looks like no one’s going to catch the Yankees. It’s not that simple with the NL wild card. You have four teams in the wild card mix; The Padres, Phillies, Rockies, and the Braves. The problem is that the Braves are 4.5 games back and there are only 6 games left. The odds are against the Braves. Hopefully something crazy can happen so that the Braves can get into the post-season.
Finally in College Football, Michigan is turning it around and Louisville is 2-2. After losing their first two games, Michigan is starting to win some games now. Even though their National Title hopes are gone, they can still win their conference with a little bit of luck. After winning their first two games convincingly, Louisville is 2-2 after losing to Kentucky and Syracuse. I’m sure they’ll fall out of the top 25. Notre Dame is 0-4. This is a horrible start for the Fighting Irish. This is obviously a rebuilding year for Charlie Weis. Georgia Tech and Georgia are 3-1 and are in the top 25. They’re playing good ball and hopefully will keep it up.
Thanks for the support
See you next month!
