Hello Gwinnett,
I would like to start off this month’s column by talking about Tom Brady and the red hot Patriots! The Patriots are 10-0 and no one is going to beat them! If you’re a fan in the New England area, you must be proud of your Celtics for starting off 9-1 and your Red Sox for winning the World Series!
The only other teams that are close to the Patriots are the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers who are 10-1. It’s scary how good Brett Farve is playing (especially at his age) and how good this Cowboy offense is. Tony Romo and Terrell Owens are a great combo. When both teams are healthy, no one can beat them.
I unfortunately have to talk about our Falcons who cannot block, tackle, pass, and sometimes run. (Warrick Dunn is getting older and they need to give Jerious Norwood more carries!) These Dirty Birds need to think about what they can do for next season and get some of these younger players more reps in practice and during the game. The one bright spot of this sad football team is that Warrick Dunn passed the 10,000 yard mark. Congratulations to you and hopefully your hard work will inspire this Falcon team!
Moving away from the NFL, College Football is still going on. If you’re a UGA or Tech fan. You must know about the Old Fashion Hate between these two.
GEORGIA leads the all-time series 58-36-5.
Georgia doesn't count the losses to Georgia Tech during the years of 1943 and 1944 due to World War II.
Here are the results of the rivalry since 2000.
2000 Georgia 15
Georgia Tech 27............ Athens
2001 Georgia 31
Georgia Tech 17............Atlanta
2002 Georgia 51
Georgia Tech 7............. Athens
2003 Georgia 34
Georgia Tech 17............Atlanta
2004 Georgia 19
Georgia Tech 13............ Athens
2005 Georgia 14
Georgia Tech 7.............Atlanta
2006 Georgia 15
Georgia Tech 12.............Atlanta
After the embarrassing loss to Tennessee, the Dawgs have won five straight games and have found a new key player! He’s a freshmen and his name is Knowshon Moreno. He has had six 100+ yard games and five straight 100+ yard games. It has been wonderful to see him and the Bulldogs play this year and that’s why they’re 9-2! Congrats to Mark Richt and his Georgia team! Georgia Tech on the other hand has been alright. They’re 7-4. Even though they’re third in their conference, their star running back Tashard Choice is leading the ACC in rushing yards and their defense leads not only the ACC but the Nation in Sacks! Keep up the good work at Tech Coach Gailey!
In the NBA, Celtic fans love Danny Ainge. The Celtics are 9-1 and the only team to beat them is the surprising Magic who are 10-3. Kevin Garnett and the rest of the “Big Three” look to dominate the Atlantic division. Kobe trade talks have died down. I don’t know what’s up, but the Lakers are playing well. The Hawks are off to a slow start. Even though they lost more games than they have won, they have beaten the Mavs and the Suns. Hopefully Coach Woodson can get this team to where it needs to be.
Finally in the MLB. Tom Glavine decided to return to the Braves for one more year. Atlanta will more than likely be the last stop in Glavine’s career. Glavine joins John Smoltz and Tim Hudson in Atlanta’s starting rotation. Greg Maddux will remain a Padre this year. In mid-November, Barry Bonds was indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction. He knew what he was doing and everyone knows that he used steroids. He lied and cheated and he should be punished! More than likely, his career is over! Finally, Torri Hunter has signed a five-year deal with the Angels. I guess the Braves will have to continue to look for a replacement in centerfield for Andruw Jones. Corey Patterson and Aaron Rowand could be possible free-agent replacements. The Braves may also swing a trade to get a centerfielder.
That’s all for this month. I’m looking forward to see you next month!
