Mountain Shadow Garden Club

Have you been worrying about your lawn as we face another long, dry
and intensely hot summer as the extraordinary drought continues?
Gardeners, not politicians, will have to deal with maintaining lawns
and gardens during this difficult period. We, therefore, urge you to
attend the April 7 meeting of the Mountain Shadow Garden Club when
Gary Peiffer, Horticulture and Master Gardener Manager for the DeKalb
County Extension Service, will present a program on "Turf Management."

Gary, who earned a BS in Biology & Pre-Forestry and a MF in Forest
Pathology, has been with the Extension Service since 1979 and in his
current position since 1989. His presentation will be about
environmental turf care, planting and maintaining an attractive lawn
in favorable and unfavorable weather. Coverage includes grass
selection, planting, fertilizing, weed control, mowing, aeration and
watering. He believes you can have a beautiful lawn even if the
highly restrictive policies on outdoor watering imposed in late 2007
are maintained this year.

Visitors are invited to join us at 7:30 PM Monday, April 7, in the
Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5801 Hugh Howell Road, Stone
Mountain. Free. Call 770-934-4726 for directions.
