Opens in Grayson

Parkside Bakery and Café opened on May 3rd in Parkside at Grayson. They are located behind Grayson City Hall in front of Grayson City Park near Salon 124 and Johnny’s Pizza. The menu lists sandwiches, desserts, pastries, special coffees and other goodies in a casual dining format. When the American Cancer Society’s Gwinnett Relay For Life took place on Friday, May 6 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, it was the 18th year that the event has been held in Gwinnett County. When it was first held in 1993 at Snellville’s South Gwinnett football field, the goal was to raise $43,000. Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity/ReStore

While most people know of the work of Habitat for Humanity, many are not aware that Gwinnett Habitat is a completely separate entity from Atlanta Habitat. Gwinnett Habitat builds an average of 8-10 houses per year, with the latest being a town home project. Gwinnett Habitat has completed approximately 112 houses and has its own budget, raises its own funds and manages its own projects. One board member, who had regularly donated money annually to the Atlanta Habitat, did not realize that Gwinnett Habitat is not part of the Atlanta Habitat. More...
